Annabelle Taubl has been praised for her “effortless technique, natural musicianship, and truly unlimited potential” by Yolanda Kondonassis, one of the world’s premiere harpists. Having performed at venues throughout the United States and Europe, Annabelle made her Carnegie Hall debut with the New York String Orchestra under the direction of Jaime Laredo. On a live national broadcast from Boston’s Jordan Hall, she performed on NPR’s “From the Top” and was selected to be featured on the program’s first CD. In 2002 Annabelle represented the American Harp Society at the World Harp Congress in Switzerland.
Beginning harp lessons at age 5, Annabelle made her solo debut just five years later performing Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp with the Northeast Youth Symphony. A year later, she entered the pre-college program at the Juilliard School and began to study with Nancy Allen, principal harpist of the New York Philharmonic. After graduating with honors from the pre-college program, Annabelle was accepted into the 20/20 full-scholarship honors chamber music program at the Hartt School, where she continued her studies with Ms. Allen.
Annabelle’s solo appearances include the Tanglewood Music Center orchestra, Juilliard Pre-College Symphony, the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic, Symphony ProMusica, Symphony by the Sea, the Nashua Chamber Orchestra, and the United States Military Academy Concert Band. Annabelle frequently performs with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Pops.
In June 2001, she was awarded first prize in the Young Professional Division of the American Harp Society’s National Competition, which accorded her Young Concert Artist status and a two year concert tour of the United States. Other awards include the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Juilliard School (2004), first prize in the Juilliard Pre-College Concerto Competition (1999), first prize in the Prix Renie National Competition (1999), third prize in the American Harp Society’s National Competition (1999), and third prize in the Corpus Christi International Competition (2000).
Annabelle joined the SF Ballet Orchestra as the Principal Harpist in December 2014.
